Monster rain
Wow. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as hard as I did last night. Tim, Gary, and I had the pleasure of sitting front and center for Jim Norton at the Improv last night. He absolutely killed.
As if giving us an hour and a half of comedy wasn’t enough, lil’ Jimmy stayed around outside until the very last fan had left. He was more than happy to autograph things or pose for pictures.
When I walked up for a pic (with my whole awkward “I’m posing with a celebrity” stance) I said to Jimmy, “Just what you want, another pic with a sweaty fat guy”. He looked at me and said “Look at me, I’m a mess” and threw his arm around me with a big smile. I think the pic caught him as he was saying the last bit of “mess”. He couldn’t have been nicer or more gratious.
And a proud moment for me. I asked him to sign my CD a few minutes after the pic. As he handed me the CD, I said “good luck bro” and he started to say “Thanks for supporting the…” and trailed off as it registered with him what I said. And then he laughed. That’s right — I made lil Jimmy laugh.
Thanks to TP for taking the great pic.
Today’s Quotes
These are from Richard Dawkin’s Two Part TV series called “The Root of All Evil?” where Dawkins argues that the world would be better off without religion.
“We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further”
“The time has come for people of reason to say: enough is enough. Religious faith discourages independent thought, it’s divisive, and it’s dangerous.”
If you are unfamiliar with Dawkins work and have any interest in atheism or Evolutionary Biology, I strongly recommend you check him out.
